One Year On

One year ago at 12.51pm Christchurch was hit by a 6.3 earthquake.
It was a frightening day, we were shaken badly here in Timaru too.
Paul and I grow up in Christchurch and most of our family still live there.
When finally were able to hear from them all, they were ok, it was a big relief.
My Dad celebrated his 70th birthday last year today.
When I was on the phone with him, we learnt that he was born in the middle of a air raid.
His mother was rushed to the hospital while the rest of his family went into the shelter.
It was story that none of us girls (my 2 sisters or me) had heard before, which we might not have heard if there hadn't been the earthquake.
Kia Kaha Christchurch!
I will be back tomorrow to show you Dads card and gift that I have made him.

Lego Party Invites and Tuesday's Tip

Here are Samuel's Lego Party Invites I have been working on today.
Colour Combo is Crumb Cake, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point.
I used 'On Your Birthday' Stamp Set.
The lego block is so easy to creative a rectangle and some punched circle easy.
Tuesday's Tip
My favourite adhesive at the moment is the Tombow Mutli, It has 2 applicators a large and small.
I only use the small end.
You have a little bit of room to play to make sure your layers are in position.
It is best if you store upside down so the glue is where you need it, when I not using it I store in my caddy.
But when I'm using it this the way I store it.
I know some people use a small container like a candle holder.
But this works for me, and I have enough clutter when I'm working.
So why not use a punch to hold your glue.
But don't forget to put the lid on or you will have a sticky mess.

This week over at Just Add Ink they have a colour challenge JAI 105.
I colours do smoke my tyres, but when I saw them I knew what to do straight away.
I remembered a card that I pinned on Pinterest, the orginal card was made by Jenni Pauli.
I think she is German, her blog is in a different language and looks like it could be German.

It was a quick and simply to make.
I used 1", 3/4", 1/2" Circle Punches and Beautiful Wings Embosslits.
I spritzed the front with Concord Crush, because I don't have Wisteria Wonder Marker.
Added some Rhinestones and you have it.
 This is the inside.

I used 'The Open Sea, Word Play and On Your Birthday' Stamp Sets.

Fun with Water Colouring

I did a workshop at the end of January, the hostess asked for me do something with watercolouring and ribbon.
This is the card I demonstrated, I cased it from Darlene Devries.
I found it on Pinterest and knew I had to make it.
My friend Irene celebrated here 70th birthday on 31st January so I gave her this card.
I have used Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Early Espresso and Whisper White Colour Combo.
I have used 'Flower Fest and On Your Birthday' Stamp Sets.
I water coloured the flowers with Pumpkin Pie, Peach Parfait, Daffodil Delight and So Saffron.
I sponged a piece of White White Card with Pumpkin Pie, rolled 1/2 of it with Very Vintage jumbo Wheel.
Then I sprinkled water over it.
I free handed a boarder in Early Espresso, added some Early Espresso Bakers Twine.
I used Designer Label Punch to trim the edges of the Tempting Turquoise and Whisper white Card Stock, then I sprinkled some bleach on the Tempting Turquoise.
Added the flowers and lastly I added a bit of bling.
