I(eye)Pad

I have made these for my kids to go in their stockings.
EyePads
I got the idea from my good friend Kim, for her birthday her DD made her an eyepad.
Sarah had used a vivid and drawn an eye on a pad.
I put my thinking cap on, here's my version using punches.
I used the Build a Blossom, 3/4' Circle and Owl to make the eye.
For the apple the back I used the Ornament, Scallop Oval and Bird Punches.

Sorry It's been so few and far between for posting on here this year.
2012 hasn't been a great year for me, and blogging has been in the too hard basket.
I have still been crafting, so have things to show you.
I will try to get back tomorrow (not promising through).

Sewing all Week

Here's what I have been sewing this week.
This is my dress that I have made for the 2 weddings we have next month.
I first saw this fabric in June, but it was too pricey for my budget.
Then when I was in the same shop in July they had 50% off all fabric, so I had to buy it.
The second wedding dress code is cocktail or semi formal so I added some bling in the form of a buckle.
Here's the handbag I made to match, I saw a bag like this on pinterest and knew that I could make it.
I played with a scrap of fabric to get it right, the local kindy will get that bag for dress ups.
The flower is a brooch so it can be removed and worn with other things.
This is my bargain of the week.
I have big problems getting shoes, I have big feet, long and wide.
I looked in Number 1 and they didn't have anything, so I went to Hannahs expecting to pay big dollars.
Too my surprise they had some shoes reduced to clear, I only paid $19.95 for them and they tone in so well with my dress.
I have made flowers to clip on to them to dress them up.
I have also finished Samuel's clothes for the weddings.
He wanted the dicky bow tie, so we bought that first then went hunting for fabric to make his waistcoat.
The trousers are navy and the shirt is cream.
He looks very spunky and grown up in them.
They kids are back to school tomorrow, so we will be back to our regular routines.
Have a great week.

These guys are jet setting to India on Saturday with 3 men from our church going on a missions trip.
There is between approx 40 to 50 hours work in making one of these guys.
I love making them, you can feel their personality's growing while been created.
This morning in church we prayed with the team going and Paul (DH) did a performance.
Steve is going to make them passports and each time they go on a missions trip it will recorded.

Craft Creators Nature Walk

I have had a busy couple of months, life seems to be going at 100 miles per hour at the moment.
I'm sorry for  my absence.
Today at Craft Creators in Geraldine  we had a great morning.
Here are the two cards we made using Nature Walk Stamp Set.
The card is a Upright Z fold card.
This a really easy fold.
This would made a great card for a man.
The colour combo is Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Garden Green, Early Espresso and Raspberry Ripple.
We coated the whole image in embossing to give it a glossily look.
I would have liked to do the cracked glass technique with them but I didn't have enough powder, so I showed the ladies my version with the cracked glass and talked it though with them.
Here's the second card.
It almost a one layer card.
We inked the clear block with crumb cake to get background.
Then we stamped the bird in Early Espresso and masked him, then stamped the flowers in Old Olive.
The butterfly was stamped in Marina Mist and we used Blender pens to add Marina Mist Flowers.
To finish it we added some Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon and added a couple of tiny Tags.
The ladies loved the cards today.
I will try to get back tomorrow with my Cracked Glass Version.
Enjoy your weekend, it's a long weekend here in South Canterbury, so I will relaxing with the family.
See you soon.

Dynamic Duo

Carole challenged to do a Dynamic Duo Colour Challenge at Unconvention'
I consulted my Colour Coach and decided on the dynamic duo of 'Always Artichoke and River Rock'.
I have used Just Believe Stamp Set and add Always Artichoke Seam Binding Ribbon and a couple of large Pearls.
I stamped the stamp in River Rock then re stamped it in Always Artichoke just slightly to the side (I don't know the name of this technique).
When I was layering the mats, I decided to angle them to match the stamping.
I crimped the back ground piece of River Rock.
Here's the inside I like to match it to the front of the card.
I won this challenge, I received in the mail this week my prize.
Carole has made me the most gorgeous covered note book and matching card, sorry I haven't photographed it yet.
I have showed it off lots, I will photograph it and blog it.
Have a great weekend.

Wrinkle Free Distress Techniqe

At unconvention Michelle set us a technique challenge.
The technique was Wrinkle Free Distress found here on Splitcoaststampers.
You need a non stick surface, I don't have one so I used a plastic bag, it worked but is wasn't the best.
Last night at the team meeting when we were doing the make and take we used the Circle Scissors Plus Glass Mat with ink and a brayer.
I had a light bulb moment and realized I could have used my glass mat for this technique.
I have used Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze and More Mustard.
'Forever Young' Stamp Set is a set I haven't used till a few weeks ago, which I embossed.
I have also used 'Loving Thoughts' Stamp Set from the Autumn-Winter Mini.
The tutorial used card stock, so I tried Whisper White it turned out dull and flat.
So I tried Glossy White Card Stock and loved the result.
Go and have a look at the tutorial and try it.

Going Green and DSP Challenge

Hi all.
I hope you all had a great week and are enjoying your weekend.
We have had a great week here in Timaru.
All 3 kids are playing hockey this year, so we are at the turf a fair bit, rugged up warm to watch their games.
Savannah is also playing netball and played to 2 games today.
On Tuesday, I ticked of soap making of my list of things to do.
I have been talking about making it for so long.
Here's the soap curing in our hot water cylinder cupboard.
I made a plain Castile Soap, I used Mel's recipe from Frugal Kiwi Blog, go check out her blog HERE.
I used my silicone muffin forms as moulds and made 23 bars of soap.
I just have to be patient (not one of my strong points) and let it cure for about 6 weeks.
Next on my list to do is Shampoo Bars, Mel has a recipe for these too, and a number of my pins from my Soaps, Scrubs and Cleaners Pinterest Board.
The other thing I bottled today is my new Lemon and White Vinegar spray Cleaner.
I found a use for Lemon skins after you have used them for juice etc.
I found it online somewhere.
After you have used your lemons place the skins in jars and cover with White Vinegar for at least 2 weeks (mine had been steeping for 5 weeks).
After the 2 weeks strain and bottle the Lemon Vinegar.
This is concentrated, so use it 50/50 with water.
I put it into an old spray bottle.
I even got carried away and cleaned my stove top, it cut through the grease no problem.
A winner in my book, and so easy to make.
Here is the card I made for the DSP Challenge at unconvention.
We were challenged to used 3 different DSPs, do you know how difficult that is to do.
I used Brights Paper stack, Big Top Birthday and Just Add Cake.

3d Unconvention Challenge

Yvonne  challenged us to made a 3d box.
It had to have ribbon and a flower.
This is made easy with product from the Autumn - Winter Mini Catalogue.
I am loving the new dies, especially the Framelits and it has a stamp set that coordinate with them.

I used the Simply Scored Tool to make the box, I bought a box of chocolates and made pizza box to fit.
Simply Scored Scoring Tool
Takes the chore out of scoring! The tool’s scoring base fits paper or card stock
up to 12" x 12" (30.5 x 30.5 cm) and features score tracks every 3.2 mm (1/8").
We also have a Metric Scoring Plate that fits on top and can purchase more markers.
I used Island Indigo and Pool Party 2011-2013 In Colours.
This stamp is one of six stamps from Apothecary Art Stamp Set.
The ribbon is Pool Party 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon.
The flower is made with Attic Boutique DSP and 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch.
This was another challenge that I won.

I am Scrap Unconvention Challenge

Jo  set us a challenge last weekend at unconvention.
We had to scrap a page titled 'I am ______'.
I haven't scrapped in a long time, I'm not a confident scrapper.
I have never scrapped about me.
But the real challenge was that we had to use our least favourite colours.
Well most of you know that I don't like soft pinks and purple, in fact Pink Pirouette used to made my skin crawl.
I got thinking, I am???
After talking with DH and other we decide I am Crafty, DH says in more ways than one.
I used Perfect Plum a colour I have never used before but have used in 4 other project this week.
I also used the 'Beau Chateau' DSP with Pink Pirouette in it.
I used Timeless Type Junior Alphabet in Pink Pirouette and Soft Suede.
DH was the photographer, I was working on my technique challenge.
I was quite pleased with how it turned out.
What's your least favourite colours?

Richelle's Card #1 Unconvention

Richele challenged us all to make a 'Waterfall Card'.
I have made a couple of waterfall cards before.
So I got thinking what stamp set should I use, I decided on 'Tidings of Joy'.
I used the Nativity stamp and stamped in Black Stazon Ink on to Water Colour Card, spotlighting 4 scenes.
I water coloured using Aqua Painters and our Ink Pads.
I used Crumb Cake, More Mustard and Marina Mist Card Stock.
I added 2 Antique Brads and it's Complete.
Waterfall cards are nice and easy to made for someone special.
I won this challenge.
If you would like to have a go at a waterfall card,
Contact me for a workshop or a class.
