Happy Birthday Samuel

Today is our youngest birthday, Samuel hits double figures 6pm tonight.
Interesting fact for you, all our babies were born very close to 6am or 6pm.
Samuel is having a Minecraft party this coming Saturday.
Here is his birthday card.
It is a Creeper card.
To get all the squares I cut 1/2" stripes of Mossy Meadow, Pistachio Pudding, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi Card Stock, I glued them with Glue Stick to copy paper to striped card, then I cut them into 1/2" strips going across the stripes. Then I used the Bargello Technique to make the background.
I used the Crazy about You Stamp set to stamp birthday and the Hello You Thinlits happy, that you can buy in a bundle together and save 15%
I used the Big Day SAB Stamp Set in the inner, I stamped it with  Memento Ink and used Blendies to colour the birthday.

Happy Birthday Savannah

Today is Savannah's 13th birthday.
Here is the card I have made for her.
It is a 'Twisted Easel Card'.
Debbie Airey has made a tutorial, go check her blog HERE.
I'm loving using 'Island Oasis' DSP and the Owl Punch.
I glued her age into the middle of the flower.
This is a large card using Debbie's dimensions.
Here is a smaller version (21cm x 10.5cm).
I think this is quite cute.
I shifted the Happy Birthday, the rest is virtually the same.
I love the striped DSP, you can do so much with it.
On the base of the cards I have used the stripe as they are, but on the fronts I have used the 'Bargello' Technique.
Happy 13th Birthday Savannah.

CHCH Regionals WOW

On Saturday at the Regional Training I was asked to present the WOW.
The technique I showed was Bargello.
Bargello is an embroidery technique using long stitches to create patterns.
But of course we recreate this technique in paper, using our striped DSP great way of using up our scraps.
Here are some exsamples that I showed on Saturday.
To make this Chervon pattern you need diagonal strip.
I used Washington Apple DSP which doesn't have diagonal stripes, so I made them by cutting 2 squares of DSP on a diagonal making sure you cut them 1 with stripes up and down and the other 1 stripes across.
I first saw this Technique on Dawn Olchefske blog, she has some great tutorials go and check out her blog.
This pattern you need diagonal stripes also, I had a scrap of DSP and I cut at 45degrees to form diagonal stripes.
I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the new DSPs in the 2010 - 2011 Idea Book and Catalogue, and trying this technique there are 11 DSPs and 9 have stripes.

Just add.... Mans Card

This week at Just Add Ink they have given us a double challenge.
Just Add Ink Challenge #28 is ..... Add A Mans Card and to use these colours.
Are they just gorgeous? I think so.
On Thursday I picked a piece of the retired Parisan Breeze Specialty Paper that was in the Spring Mini last year, I thought that I would do something with it over the weekend then on Friday when I saw what this weeks challenge was I knew what to do straight away, how prefect.
I have used the oak tree out of Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set, It is one of my favourite stamps.
The details in SU stamps are so sharp and they ink up so beautifully, just one of the things I love about SU products.
I also used the happy fathers day stamp out of the Occasional Greetings Stamp Set.
On the inside I have stamped the oak tree in the corner and scored a double frame around the edge, then I lightly sponged it.
Hope you have had a great weekend.

Windsor Knot Bargello

I finished this card the other day, using the Bargello Techinque.
I have made it very simple, I thought it would make a great man's card.

Birthday Card and Matching Shoe

After making the thankyou card on Friday for JAI challenge, I liked it so much and Savannah needed a birthday card for her friend Nadine whose party she went to on Saturday I made another one.
Change the words and you have a birthday card.
I also made this shoe for Nadine.
The flower is made using 5-Petal Flower and Boho Blossom Punches.
We cut and scored  another and put Sticky Strip on another shoe for Nadine to make up, with other supplies, Savannah punched out lots shapes for her. Nadine was so pleased with her gift she made a card straight away.

Bargello Technique

I came across a new technique the other day while blog hopping on Dawn Olchefske blog, go check out her blog she has lots of tutorials.
The technique was called Bargello.
Which is an embroidery technique that uses long stitches to create patterns.  But of course, we use paper to replicate the technique.

So here is the my results using this technique. Do you like the chervons that I have created using the striped Cottage Wall DSP?
This week challenge at Just Add Ink # 23 is Just Add... Patterned Paper.
So I thought this would be a great entry.
Last weeks JAI # 22 was a colour challenge which I wanted to do but I didn't get chance to do, so I have used them for this weeks challenge.
These are glorious colours and I have enjoyed using them together.
I don't know what the name of the style of card is, it is nice to make different cards from time to time.
I have used Cheep Talk Stamp Set, which is a 2 - Step Stampin' Stamp Set, which is very fun to use.
Next month, Stampin’ Up! is having a promotion on several selected 2-step stamp sets – so you may well be able to pick up one of your favourites at a great price.
