Tuesday's Tip

Do You Have Dental Floss in your Craft Supplies?
Do you ever stick something down then realised it is in the wrong place or it is crooked?
I can answer Yes to both the above questions.
Dental floss is a very handy tool to have on hand, for when have placed something in the wrong place.
You get your Dental floss and put it under the piece you have in the wrong place, with both hand pull the floss right under your piece until it has come undone.
It will come off nicely and won't be all buckled and bend like it would be if you had just pulled it off.
Then you reapply tape and reposition.
Here are some thank you cards I got completed today.
Yes my brown boxes arrived (I could have hugged my courier when they arrived).
I have used Thanks Embosslit, which embosses and cuts at the sametime.
I have used Concord Crush (sorry about the photo), Pear Pizzazz, Bashful Blue and Crumb Cake.
I also sponged the edges with Platinum Shimmer Paint.

Faux Metal

Hi Everyone.
Hope you all had a great weekend.
It was a long weekend here in Timaru as it is Anniversary Day today.
The Sun has shone and it was glorious.
I managed to get some craft time today, then we went for a walk to a friends place then to the park.
Here's the one of the cards I got done today.
The technique is Faux Metal, I found a video tutorial on Diana Gibbs (demo in the States) blog.
In her tutorial she uses Silver Embossing Powder, I didn't have silver so I used gold instead.
I thought it would make a great Christmas Card.
Supplies List
Stamp Sets: Winter Post and Occasional Greetings.
Card Stock: Real Red, Basic Black, Sahara Sand and Whisper White.
Inks: VersaMark, Real Red and Basic Black.
Extras: Heat Tool, Gold Embossing Powder, Powder Pals, Dazzling Diamonds, Stampin' Pastels, Sponge and Stampin' Dimensionals.

Happy Mail

I received some 'Happy Mail' today.
It was a real pick up for me as I have been feeling a bit down lately.
I have been seeing all the great blogs using the new colours and products. My brown box with my new colours and product has got lost in the post, some where between Timaru and Sydney, probably in a warehouse in Christchurch, your guess would be as good mine to it's where abouts. Very frustrating.
Stampin' Up are sending a replacement parcel, I was hoping it would arrive today but it hasn't and as it is 'South Canterbury's Anniversary Day on Monday I probably won't arrive to Tuesday at the earliest.
Anyway sorry about the moan, it's the first time that it has happened and there have been some unusually circumstances what with Christchurch earthquake and unseasonal weather etc.
I will get to the point, 'Happy Mail' I received 2 parcels today.
The first was some new business card that I only ordered last week, I wasn't exspecting them for another 2 weeks.
The second was a business tool, Designer Series Paper Folder that Sharyn had sent, she has put a lot of work into them, last year I had to attached the squares of DSP myself.
Sharyn has stuck them onto the sheets, all I had to do was put them into my clear file folder.
Thanks Sharyn, This arrived in time for my workshop tonight.
This is a great business tool and my customer love getting a better look at all the DSP.

Fun with Punches...

...At After School Club today.
We made hair gel cards using the whale stamp out of 'Animal Stories' Stamp Set.
The second card they made, used the Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and the XL Two Step Bird Punch.
I let them used some of my retired card stock and DSP, and they could decorate the card as they pleased.
They are enjoying the Club, we have 2 weeks break as school holidays start on Friday.
I'm thinking we might make a memory cube or a mini album next term.

Silent Auction

Today Savannah and Samuel had a Red and Black Mufti Day at school.
There was also a Bale Sale Silent Auction, all the proceeds are going to be sent to an Earthquake Damaged School in Canterbury.
We were asked to 'Get our cooking aprons on, dust off our best cookbooks and bake up a storm'.
I baked a Chocolate Cake. There were loaves, lots of chocolate cakes, lolly cake, all sorts of different cakes.
There were two very inventive ladies who baked EQ Cakes (I wished I had my camera).
One was a house with cracks, fallen chimney and broken fence.
Here is the second cake, that we won in the auction baked by Kylie.
They made my cake look very boring.
I bet Kylie had fun making this.
It is a Chocolate and Coffee Cake and Gingerbread buildings, and it is very very yummy.
Look at the the men with hi vis vests, Kylie said this man is Bob Parker and the man under rubble is Jim Anderton (but I didn't say that).
 Isn't Kylie clever.

Can You Believe.....

..That another week is nearly over, and a busy one at that.
I had a Team Meeting in CHCH on Tuesday evening, I love been part of the team it's like joining a great big family when you join up with Stampin' Up! If you would like to become part of the Stampin' Up family email me to join my team.
Monday I was preparing for a workshop that evening, finishing swaps and preparing for the WOW I presented at the meeting.
Here's my swap I made.
Tuesday I drove to CHCH returned the refugee, caught up with family and attended the Team Meeting.
Wednesday I picked up 2 Canaries from Savannah's Godparent's to bring home for the kids.
They had told me the cage was big, but it was very big. We drive a Nissan Serena, to get the cage in we had to put up the back seats, half turn the middle seat and unbolt the dolly seat and seat beats (major operation, I'm glad Mark hadn't already gone to work, as he was our skillful surgeon ) Thanks Mark.
They are beautiful birds a male and female, Darian has named the male 'McLovit' (don't know were that came from) and Savannah has named the girl 'Sunny' as she is a lovely yellow.
Julie gave us all the seed, grit and nesting materials, Sunny is wanting to build a nest so the kids are looking on with keen interest.
I arrived home an hour before I had to be at School for Kids Club, which I still had to prepare for.
Here's the cards the kids did yesterday, Savannah made these two.
They used Choo Choo Stampset, and had to draw their own track because in the quick turn around I left the wheel at home.
They used Butterfly Prints and Oval All stampsets and the punches to match.
So I was pretty tired by the end of the day.
Today was a beautiful day here so I have spent the day in the garden.
I will show the team swaps in the next few days.

Box Card

On Friday evening I took part in a online tutorial at Crafters Amonyous.
There was a catch to this tutorial, we had to post photos of the finished card then Tia would email us the tutorial.
Tia Routledge took us through the tutorial step by step in the chatroom.
Here's the  box card (open), it was fun to make once you got the hang of all the folds.
The front of the card (closed).
I used Sahara Sand, Soft Suede and Elegant Eggplant Card Stock with Vintage Vogue Stamp Set with Elegant Eggplant Ink and I used the XL 2 Step Bird Punch.
After doing this tutorial online I went straight downstairs to my craftroom with my niece Jessica and we made another one straight away.
This is Jessica's Card, she used Basic Black and Old Olive Card Stock with Baroque Mofits.
Thanks Tia for a great tutorial.

JAI # 34

This weeks challenge is a colour.
My first thought was YUCK!
I'm definitely not a soft pink girl. I haven't got Pretty In Pink Card or Ink, I did have a bit of Pink Pirouette Card from a Assorted In-Colour pack from last year so I borrowed my friends (Liz Thanks) Pink Pirouette Ink Pad.
I had a Sympathy Card to make and thought these colors would lend them selves nicely for it.
I have used 'Every Moment' , 'Thoughts and Prayers' and 'God's Blessings' Stamp Sets.
'Every Moment' is a great Stamp Set for watercolouring.
I have used most of these colours before but  not together, it's good to be out of our comfort zone from time to time.
I'm pleased with how it turned out, even though it doesn't do anything for me.
My niece Jessica (ChCh refugee ) is staying with us, and she loves it.
The colours are my sisters colours and I'm sure she would like it also.
What do you think?
Supplies List
Stamp Sets: Every Moment, Thoughts and Prayers and God's Blessings.
Card Stock: Crumb Cake (Kraft), So Saffron, Pink Pirouette and Watercolour Card.
Ink: Pink Pirouette, So saffron, Certainly Celery, Sahara Sand and Stazon Black.
Extras: Certianly Celery Ribbon (retired), Aqua Painters, Big Shot and Perfect polka Dots Embossing Folder.
I will be back tomorrow with another card that I made yesterday, I had a very productive day yesterday.
Till then have a  great weekend, I hope you get some crafting done and some relaxing.

After School Clubs Week 2

I have committed to running an after school club at school every Wednesday for 10 weeks.
Last week we did Father's Day gift and card.
This week we made 'Gods Eyes'.
This is a easy craft once you have pattern going, using wool and popicles sticks.
The kids enjoyed this craft and 2 of them completed 2 of them in the time alotted.
There are 7 kids doing crafts for clubs, thier ages ranging from 5 - 12 years.
With this craft it was the younger kids that cottoned on to this  easier than the 2 12 year olds.
They are a nice bunch of kids and pleasure to work with. I'm looking forward to getting to know them better over the 10 weeks

Make 'n' Take

This is the card I got at regional Training last month from Carolyn Young.
As you can see I have basicly cased this card and used an idea from Bron Heslop also to make this card.
This is the Make 'n' Take we on Saturday.
We used 'For You Flower' Stamp.
I have punch out the middle of the flower and raised it with Stampin' Dimensionals and covered it in Crystal Effects.
Bron Heslop had done this on here team swaps last month.
I used Baroque Motifs Stamp Set as a back ground stamp.
Supply List
Stamp Sets: For You Flower and Baroque motifs.
Card Stock: Soft Suede, Old Olive, Very Vanilla and Greenhouse Gala DSP.
Ink: Real Red, Soft Suede and Old Olive.
Punches: 1 3/8" Circle and Fancy Flower Punches.
Extras: Crystal Effects, Stampin' Dimensionals and Hemp Twine.

One of the benefits of been a Demo is that you are part of a team, and we get together for meetings and Trainings. We do Swaps and get lots of different ideas from each other.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day.
I blogged My Father's Day card a few weeks ago, click here to view.
Hope you are all having a great Father's Day.
Thoughts and Prayers to you all in Christchurch.
I have been in contact with family and friends in CHCH, they are all fine with very little damage.

I have been meaning to make a Post It Note Holder for a very long time now.
I finally got around to it on Friday.
I have used Greenhouse Gala DSP.
I am loving this DSP and can't wait to get my hands on the other new DSPs.
It has some very yummy colours in it, like Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz (In Colour) and Daffodil Delight (New Colour Brights Collection).
Both these New Colour are just stunning.

After School Clubs

I'm taking a group of 4 lovely (6 if you include my 2) kids for a Craft After School Club, for 10 weeks.
We started yesterday, and as Father's Day is on Sunday we made a gift and card for Dad.
In this photo they are painting plaster bases for the gift for Dad.
Then they choose stone to represent their family.
The Card came out of a card making book of Savannah's.
They all loved making the gift and card, and were very excited about know what we could be doing next.
As of yet I haven't decided yet, Savannah and I will put our heads together and come up with something.
Here are their gifts that they made.
They just need to write on them 'Dad Rocks".
